While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (Since October 7, 2023), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis.

UNRWA: Israeli strikes, evacuation orders forcing Gaza families to flee again

GAZA, August 28, 2025 (WAFA) –

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that the ongoing Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip and evacuation orders are forcing entire families to once again abandon their homes amid fear and devastation.

Members of the UN Security Council, with the exception of the United States, called in a joint statement for an immediate, lasting, and unconditional ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

They also urged for a significant increase in aid throughout the Strip and for Israel, the occupying power, to immediately and unconditionally lift all restrictions on the delivery of aid.

The statement called on Israel to immediately reverse its decision to seize control of Gaza City. "This decision, which we reject, will inevitably exacerbate the humanitarian situation and put the lives of all civilians at risk."

Gaza death and destruction "without parallel in recent times" - Guterres

NEW YORK, August 28, 2025 (WAFA) -

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday renewed his call for a ceasefire in Gaza, greater humanitarian access and the release of all hostages, as the enclave faces yet another deadly escalation.

“Israel’s initial steps to militarily take over Gaza City signal a new and dangerous phase,” he told journalists in New York, warning against the devastating consequences.

“Hundreds of thousands of civilians – already exhausted and traumatized – would be forced to flee yet again, plunging families into even deeper peril. This must stop.”

Guterres was speaking ahead of a Security Council meeting on the situation in Haiti, but stopped to brief reporters on the “unfolding tragedy that is Gaza”, where “yet more unconscionable Israeli strikes” have occurred.

Incidents include the two airstrikes on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis earlier this week which killed civilians, including medical personnel and journalists, “all with the world watching”.

The Secretary-General said “these attacks are part of an endless catalogue of horrors” and called for accountability.

“Gaza is piled with rubble, piled with bodies, and piled with examples of what may be serious violations of international law,” he said.

Guterres stressed that “the levels of death and destruction in Gaza are without parallel in recent times”. Moreover, he added, “famine is no longer a looming possibility - it is a present-day catastrophe.”

“These are the facts on the ground. And they are the result of deliberate decisions that defy basic humanity,” he said. “Israel, as the occupying power, has clear obligations.”

He said Israel must ensure the provision of food, water, medicine, and other essentials.  This is in addition to agreeing to and facilitating far greater humanitarian access to Gaza as well as protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure.

Guterres said the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has given binding provisional measures which must be implemented in full and immediately.

They include the obligation to take all steps to ensure unfettered humanitarian and medical assistance to Palestinians throughout the Gaza Strip without delay and in full cooperation with the United Nations.

Meanwhile, the UN and partners are doing all they can, he said.  This is often at great personal risk, as tragically 366 UN personnel have been killed.

“Day after day, our efforts are being blocked, delayed, and denied,” he said. “This is unacceptable.”

Guterres also addressed the situation in the West Bank, describing it as “profoundly alarming”.

He said Israeli military operations, settler violence, demolitions, and discriminatory policies are driving displacement and deepening vulnerability.

Furthermore, the relentless expansion of settlements is fracturing communities and cutting off access to vital resources.

The Israeli authorities recently approved a plan for the construction of thousands of settlements in the E1 area. He said this would effectively separate the northern and southern West Bank, representing “an existential threat to the two-state solution” between Israelis and Palestinians.

“I repeat: The Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have been established – and are being maintained -- in violation of international law,” he stressed.

“Israel must cease such actions and comply with its obligations.”

The Secretary-General concluded his remarks by emphasizing that there is no military solution to the conflict.

“I appeal once again for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, unfettered humanitarian access across Gaza, and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages,” he said.

“Starvation of the civilian population must never be used as a method of warfare. Civilians must be protected. Humanitarian access must be unimpeded,” he added, ending with a plea for “No more excuses.  No more obstacles.  No more lies.”

WFP chief calls for immediate surge of aid into Gaza and safe access to reach the most vulnerable families

Al-Quds (occupied Jerusalem), August 28, 2025 (WAFA) -

World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director Cindy McCain stated that safe and unhindered humanitarian access to reach the most vulnerable families is the top priority at this moment, following her visit to the Gaza Strip, where she witnessed firsthand the immense destruction and deep desperation.

The WFP chief’s visit came just days after an authoritative panel of hunger experts confirmed that famine is present in Gaza City, and is likely to spread by the end of September without an urgent increase in humanitarian aid. “This is just the fifth famine to be confirmed this century,” noted the WFP in a statement.

Two years of conflict have left families displaced, many multiple times, and lacking the basics for survival.

“Gaza is at a breaking point. Desperation is soaring – and I saw it firsthand.” McCain said. “We must urgently be able to revive our vast and trusted network of 200 food distribution points across the Strip, community kitchens and bakeries. It is urgent that the right conditions are in place so we can reach the most vulnerable and save lives.”

The Executive Director went to Dair El-Balla'h and Khan Younus areas, where she witnessed the impact of nearly two years of war. In Dair El-Balla'h, she visited a nutrition clinic keeping children alive and met with displaced mothers who shared their daily struggle to survive, including searching for scraps of food, which often yields nothing.

“I met starving children receiving treatment for severe malnutrition – and I saw photos of when they were healthy. Today they are unrecognizable.” McCain said.

According to EFP, last month has seen a moderate increase in the amount of humanitarian and commercial goods entering the Strip. "However, this is well below the amount needed to support two million people, many of whom face extreme hunger."

“We can quickly scale up humanitarian aid to reach the most vulnerable inside Gaza, support the return of all hostages, and lay the foundation for peace and stability.”

UN experts alarmed by reports of enforced disappearances at Gaza Humanitarian Foundation aid distribution sites

GENEVA, August 28, 2025 (WAFA) -

Condemning the enforced disappearance of starving Palestinian civilians seeking food aid at distribution centers run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a group of UN experts today urged Israeli authorities to put an end to the heinous crime against an already vulnerable population.

“Reports of enforced disappearances targeting starving civilians seeking their basic right to food are not only shocking, but amount to torture. Using food as a tool to conduct targeted and mass disappearances needs to end now,” the experts said.

The experts received reports that a number of individuals, including one child, who visited aid distribution sites in Rafa'h, have been forcibly disappeared. “Aerial bombardment and daily gunfire at and around the crowded facilities have resulted in mass casualties,” note the experts in a statement.

The statement said that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is obligated to provide secure distribution sites and has contracted private military security companies to that end. According to information received, the Israeli Forces are also operating in and around aid distribution sites and are reportedly directly involved in the enforced disappearance of people seeking aid, it added.

“We are particularly concerned that once again the Palestinian people have been targeted and punished as such, and in the most desperate moment of man-made starvation, denied the aid they are forced to rely on, already laden with obstacles to access, the distribution points pose additional risks for devastated individuals of being forcibly disappeared,” the experts said.

“We fear that increased reports of enforced disappearances at aid distribution points will discourage individuals from accessing essential food assistance, further aggravating the risk of starvation,” they added.

The statement warned that Israeli occupation forces are refusing to provide information on the fate and whereabouts of persons they have deprived of their liberty, “in apparent violation of the absolute and non-derogable prohibition of enforced disappearances.”

“The failure to acknowledge deprivation of liberty by State agents and refusal to acknowledge detention constitute an enforced disappearance.”

“The international community cannot stay silent in the face of such an apparent constellation of abhorrent crimes,” the experts said, calling for swift action to end the atrocities.

“Israeli authorities must clarify the fate and whereabouts of disappeared persons and investigate the enforced disappearances thoroughly and impartially and punish perpetrators. The obligation to conduct such investigations is a norm of jus cogens that must not be curtailed or impeded in any way. Any delay should be promptly addressed by international justice,” they said.

The experts noted that while these concerns have been raised directly with the Israeli Government, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, and private military security companies concerned, close independent monitoring is necessary pending the urgent dismantlement of this inhumane aid system and the return of a UN-led humanitarian system.

Press Syndicate warns of dangers of Israeli media incitement to kill Palestinian journalists

RAMALLAH, August 28, 2025 (WAFA) –

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) today warned against the systematic wave of incitement led by Israeli journalists and media figures, with the backing of Israeli political, military, and judicial institutions, targeting Palestinian journalists working in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the syndicate said that this open incitement, which has escalated to explicit calls to kill journalists and justify their targeting, reflects a systematic Israeli policy aimed at silencing the truth and covering up war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against civilians.

The PJS affirmed that Palestinian journalists are fulfilling their professional and ethical duty to convey the truth to the world, and that targeting them constitutes a war crime and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, as well as international conventions on the protection of journalists.

The syndicate called on international institutions, particularly the United Nations, to adopt a clear and urgent stand to stop the ongoing incitement and attacks against Palestinian journalists, ensure their protection, and hold those responsible accountable, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2222 on the protection of journalists in armed conflict.

It also praised international positions condemning the crimes committed against journalists by the Israeli occupation, particularly those of the International Federation of Journalists, as well as the growing global solidarity with Palestinian journalists.

UN: Gaza’s children deprived of education for third consecutive year

NEW YORK, August 28, 2025 (WAFA) –

The United Nations announced on Wednesday that Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip will be deprived of education for the third consecutive year due to Israel's blockade and ongoing aggression.

UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said during a press conference last night that the new school year is approaching, and "the children of Gaza will lose the opportunity to learn for the third year in a row. Education is a fundamental right and no child should be deprived of it."

Dujarric called for protecting the right of children in Gaza to education.

He stressed the need to reopen schools and ensure that Palestinian children are able to exercise their right to education, warning that this crisis "threatens the future of an entire generation in Gaza."

Thursday 28-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC, WAFA)

During the past 24 hours, hospitals in the Gaza Strip received the bodies of at least 71 civilians, as well as 339 people suffering from different injuries following Israeli attacks, according to Gaza’s health ministry on Thursday morning.

Accordingly, a total of 11,121 people have been killed and 47,225 others have been injured since the Israeli occupation army resumed its genocidal war on Gaza on March 18, 2025.

The new fatalities increased the death toll from the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, which started on October 7, 2023, to 62,966 martyrs, including 2,180 aid seekers, the health ministry said.

The ministry added that the total number of the wounded also surged to 159,266 people, including 16,046 aid seekers.

The ministry also said that Gaza’s hospitals recorded four new fatalities, including two children, in the past 24 hours due to starvation and malnutrition, bringing the death toll from the famine to 317 victims, including 121 children.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to recover the bodies of more martyrs who are still missing in different areas of the Gaza Strip.

Dozens massacred and injured in Israeli attacks in Gaza

Thursday 28-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The Israeli occupation army continued, last night and on Thursday, to carry out intensive deadly strikes and target civilians in different areas of the Gaza Strip.

According to local media sources, the Israeli occupation forces also continued today to detonate and bomb more homes and displace families in different areas of the Gaza Strip, further deepening the dire humanitarian crisis as the population grapples with worsening famine.

According to the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reporter in Gaza, Israeli attacks have continued across the Gaza Strip, including a shooting attack on tents in the Asdaa area of Khan Younus. A woman and a child were killed in the attack.

Four other people were killed and others were injured in an Israeli strike on a house in Gaza City’s Al-Zawiya street.

Casualties were also reported after an Israeli drone attacked citizens in Gaza City’s Al-Jalaa street.

One civilian was martyred following an Israeli airstrike in the Jabalia Al-Nazla area of northern Gaza.

An Israeli suicide drone targeted a tent sheltering a displaced family in Gaza City’s Al-Shati refugee camp, injuring a child.

A woman and her child were martyred in an Israeli airstrike on a house belonging to the family of Ghanim in central Gaza.

The Israeli army also launched attacks on other areas of the Gaza Strip last night and today, killing and wounding more civilians, including children and women.

Meanwhile, dozens of people were martyred or injured in Israeli attacks on aid seekers near distribution points in separate areas of Gaza.

Four people, including two children, were also proclaimed dead due to starvation and malnutrition, while other Gazans were pronounced dead after they succumbed to injuries they sustained in recent attacks, according to Gaza’s health ministry today.

Four more Palestinians die due to starvation and acute malnutrition in Gaza

GAZA, August 28, 2025 (WAFA) –

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced the deaths of four Palestinians, including two children,  in the past 24 hours due to starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip.

This brings the total number of the starvation-related fatalities to 317, including 121 children.

The ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen, due to the blockade and shortages of food and medical supplies. The severe famine is intertwined with the genocidal war waged by Israel since October 7, 2023.

Since March 2, 2025, the occupying authorities have closed all crossings with the Gaza Strip, blocking the entry of most food and medical aid, further accelerating the spread of famine across the territory.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has warned that malnutrition among children under five doubled between March and June as a result of the ongoing blockade.

The World Health Organization confirmed that malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached alarming levels, with nearly one in five children under five in Gaza City suffering from acute malnutrition.

Israeli strikes kill four Palestinians, including mother and child, in Gaza

GAZA, August 28, 2025 (WAFA) –

Three Palestinian civilians, including a woman and her child, were killed on Thursday in Israeli shelling of the Al-Buraij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip and the Al-Rimal neighborhood west of Gaza City.

WAFA correspondent said that a woman and her child were killed when the Israeli occupation bombed the home of the Ghanim family in the Al-Buraij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, one civilian was killed and others were injured when the occupation bombed a residential apartment near the Palestine Tower on Al-Shuhada Street in the Al-Rimal neighborhood west of Gaza City.

Several causalities were reported as Israeli fighter jets struck  a tent for displaced people in the Al-Shati refugee camp west of the city, at a time Israeli artillery fired shells toward Street 8 south of Gaza City, with no injuries reported.

In Khan Younis, a Palestinian man was killed following an Israeli airstrike in the city center. Meanwhile, a child was injured as Israeli forces bombed a displacement tent in Badr Camp in northern Al-Shati. Artillery also shelled a house belonging to the Abu Musabbi'h family in Dair El-Bala'h, central Gaza.

He noted that Israeli artillery targeted a home belonging to the Abu Musabbi'h family in the city of Dair El-Bala'h in the central Gaza Strip.

Since October 7, 2023, the occupation has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

The genocide has left 62,819 killed, 158,629 wounded, most of them children and women, more than 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that has killed 303 Palestinians, including 117 children.

Gaza: Death toll from starvation climbs to 317, including 121 children

Thursday 28-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

Four Palestinian citizens, including two children, died of starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip within the past 24 hours, according to a statement released by Gaza’s health ministry on Thursday morning.

The new victims have raised the total number of hunger-related deaths in the famished coastal territory to 317 people, including 121 children, the health ministry said.

Since March 2, the Israeli occupation army has been closing all the border crossings with Gaza, preventing the flow of humanitarian aid and vital needs. Although limited quantities of aid have recently been allowed in, they remain insufficient to meet the minimum basic needs of the population.

Addressing the UN Security Council on Wednesday, Save the Children International CEO Inger Ashing accused Israel of pursing a deliberate starvation policy in the Gaza Strip.

Below is Ashing’s statement during the UNSC meeting.

“The Gaza famine is here. An engineered famine. A predicted famine. A manmade famine. As we speak, children in Gaza are systematically being starved to death. This is a deliberate policy. This is starvation as a method of war in its starkest terms.”

“Save the Children’s clinics in Gaza are overwhelmed by need; every bench packed with malnourished children and their mothers. Yet our clinics are almost silent now. Children do not have the strength to speak or even cry out in agony.”

“They lie there emaciated, quite literally wasting away. Their tiny bodies overcome by hunger and disease. The medical and specialized nutrition supplies they need all but used up. Without these, malnourished children will die.”

“A few kilometers away stand ready a sea of supplies — thousands upon thousands of truckloads of lifesaving items. All blocked. The government of Israel could end this famine tonight if it chose to end its deliberate obstruction and let humanitarians do their job. Instead, there are reports of escalations in Israeli military activity in Gaza City, more attacks on hospitals, more killing.”

“At our Child Friendly Spaces, children draw what we call ‘wishing clouds’ so that they can imagine a better future. In Gaza, children used to wish for school, or peace, or to see their friends again. Once the total siege began in March, children would increasingly tell us they wish for food, for bread. These past few weeks, more and more children have shared that they wish to be dead.”

“Children are being killed in Gaza – by bombs, bullets, and now starvation – an entire generation at risk of being wiped out.”

“Every decision maker in every capital in the world – everyone in this room – has a legal and moral responsibility to act to stop these atrocities.”

“Famine means there are no more breaking points and no more alarm bells. It is the worst-case scenario.”

“We told you this was coming, loudly and clearly. It has been constructed by design for two years.”

Civil Defense: 1,500 homes destroyed in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, 80% of residents displaced

Thursday 28-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said that Israel has completely destroyed more than 1,500 residential buildings in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, since the beginning of August. Meanwhile, the town of Jabalya, in the north of the Strip, is experiencing similar conditions.

Basal reported that the southern area of Al-Zaytoun has been leveled to the ground, with over 1,500 residential buildings destroyed since the start of the ground operation on August 6.

He explained that the Israeli army is using excavators and heavy machinery, along with booby-trapped robots at a rate of seven detonations per day, in addition to “quad-copter” drones that drop explosives on rooftops, intensifying the destruction. He noted that around 80% of the neighborhood’s residents have been displaced to the western or northern areas of Gaza City.

Since the beginning of August, the Israeli army has been waging a large-scale assault on Al-Zaytoun, involving the demolition of homes with booby-trapped robots, artillery shelling, random gunfire, and forced displacement, as part of an Israeli plan to reoccupy what remains of the Gaza Strip.

On August 8, the Israeli government approved a plan to gradually reoccupy all of Gaza, starting with Gaza City. This comes as Israeli attacks continue across the Strip, leaving behind more deaths and injuries amid catastrophic humanitarian conditions and a severe shortage of essential services.

A satellite imagery analysis by Adi Ben Nun, from the Geographic Information Systems Center at the Hebrew University, showed that since the beginning of the war, the Israeli army has destroyed at least 36,000 buildings in Gaza City, equivalent to 80% of all pre-war structures.

Basal also stressed that the situation in Jabalya and Jabalya Al-Nazla in northern Gaza is no less dire than Al-Zaytoun, as Israel continues artillery shelling, airstrikes, and the use of booby-trapped robots without any ground advancement by military vehicles.

He described the humanitarian situation as “catastrophic,” citing the collapse of the civil defense system, severe shortages in health and relief services, and the absence of shelters or safe areas for the displaced.

Thursday 28-August-2025

RAMALLAH, (PIC)

The shepherd reportedly sustained multiple injuries and was admitted to the hospital for medical assistance.

Israel issues military orders to seize Palestinian land in Qalqilya for settler-only roads

QALQILYA, August 28, 2025 (WAFA) –

Israeli occupation authorities issued two military orders to seize Palestinian-owned lands from the village of Jinsafout, east of Qalqilya.

According to the Settlement File Department in the Qalqilya Governorate, the two military orders aim to seize approximately 16 dunams of Palestinian land  for the construction of new illegal settlement road segments.

One order aims to connect the illegal colony of Yakir to the Karnei Shomron colony, while thw other seeks to connect the Immanuel colony to the Karnei Shomron outpost.

These two colonies are built on the lands of the villages of Jinsafut, Amatin, Kafr Laqif, Far'ata, and Dair Istiya. This will strengthen the network of bypass roads designated for serving the colonies occupying Palestinian lands in the area.

The department warned  that such decisions will deprive approximately 150 Palestinian farmers from accessing their agricultural lands, even if they obtain permits from the occupation authorities. The orders are based on the pretext that the lands are located adjacent to colonial roads that are prohibited to approach.

British and Canadian Consuls visit Al-Mughayyir village to witness firsthand impact of Israeli occupation and colonists’ attacks

RAMALLAH, August 28, 2025 (WAFA) –

Palestinian Governor of Ramallah and Al-Beereh, Layla Ghannam, today briefed a delegation from the British and Canadian consulates on the impact of ongoing attacks by Israeli occupation forces and colonists against Palestinian residents and landowners in the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah.

The briefing took place during a field tour organized by the governorate in the village, which included a visit to the Al-Mughayyir plain, recently subjected to large-scale bulldozing operations that destroyed hundreds of olive trees.

The tour also included homes repeatedly targeted by colonists, and lands under threat of confiscation and colonial road construction. Members of the village council and representatives of local institutions were present.

During the visit, the delegation met with local residents and heard firsthand testimonies of ongoing colonists’ violence, including home invasions and the systematic theft of land, carried out under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.

The governor emphasized that the visit was particularly significant, as Al-Mughayyir is a clear reflection of the broader policy of settler colonialism and settler violence across all governorates.

she stressed that the people of Al-Mughayyir, Kafr Malik, Sinjil, Dair Dibwan, and other villages east of Ramallah are paying a heavy price due to the international community’s silence in the face of such crimes.

The governor called on the United Kingdom, Canada, and the international community to take concrete and decisive steps to address these ongoing violations, rather than simply issuing reports or statements of condemnation.

Impotent, worthless UN Security Council and Pope Francis call for urgent end to Gaza genocide and famine

Thursday 28-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The impotent UN Security Council, which has been turned as worthless by the US vitoes, and Pope Francis issued urgent appeals on Wednesday, warning that Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza has created an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe marked by famine, mass displacement, and relentless attacks on civilians.

In a statement, Security Council members, with the exception of the US, demanded an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and an end to the use of starvation as a weapon of war, which is prohibited under international law. Council members cautioned that more than 41,000 children in Gaza are now at imminent risk of death due to severe malnutrition, urging Israel to halt the expansion of its military operations and to comply with international humanitarian law by protecting civilians.

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) echoed these warnings, stressing that “famine in Gaza is not just headlines or statistics, but a grim reality threatening lives daily.” The agency called for urgent international action to prevent further mass deaths, noting that 1.2 million children in Gaza face acute food insecurity under Israel’s siege.

Meanwhile, Pope Francis, in his weekly address at the Vatican, issued a direct appeal to the international community to end the Israeli genocide in Gaza, which has now stretched into its 691st day. He called for the release of all captives, a permanent ceasefire, the facilitation of safe humanitarian aid, and respect for international law.

“I issue once again a strong appeal to bring an end to the conflict in the Holy Land that has caused so much terror, destruction, and death,” the Pope said. He reminded that international law explicitly forbids collective punishment, indiscriminate force, and the forced displacement of populations.

Despite repeated appeals, Israel, backed by the US and several European powers topped by Germany and the UK, continues to enforce a total siege on over two million Palestinians in Gaza. The blockade has deprived civilians of food, medical supplies, water, and electricity, pushing hundreds of thousands into starvation. Official reports indicate that hunger-related deaths have already claimed 313 lives, including 119 children.

The Security Council warned that if the siege and genocide persist, the humanitarian crisis will deepen beyond repair. Global leaders are now under mounting pressure to stop the atrocities and ensure aid reaches those trapped inside Gaza.

'Hamas welcomes UNSC statement, calls US “fully complicit in Israel’s crimes”

Thursday 28-August-2025

GAZA, (PIC)

The 'Hamas Movement has welcomed the UN Security Council’s statement that called for urgent steps to deal with the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing Israeli attacks on its population.

“The statement adopted on Wednesday by all members of the UN Security Council, except for the US, is an important international step showing a broad consensus against the genocide and starvation war waged by the Israeli occupation regime on more than two million Palestinians besieged in the Gaza Strip,” Hamas said in a statement on Wednesday.

'Hamas said that Washington’s continued obstruction of binding resolutions against Israel makes it fully complicit in crimes against humanity and responsible for the famine and massacres in Gaza.

'Hamas called on the Security Council to take immediate and practical steps to force the Israeli occupation government to stop its brutal war on Gaza and hold Israeli leaders accountable for committing crimes against humanity.

On Wednesday, 14 members of the Security Council issued a joint statement describing the famine in Gaza as a “man-made crisis.”

They said that “the use of starvation as a weapon of war is clearly prohibited under international humanitarian law.”

The members called for an immediate ceasefire, the unconditional lifting of all Israeli restrictions on aid deliveries, and for Israel to reverse its decision to further expand its military operation aimed at taking over Gaza City.

However, the acting US representative to the UN, Dorothy Shea, defended Israel’s genocidal practices in Gaza at the council meeting prior to the release of the joint statement. She also defended Israel’s aid distribution methods and restrictions that claimed the lives of hundreds of Gazans.

Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places:

1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules.

2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet.

3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic names as Jameel and Jibreel.

4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed.

5. It is more accurate to refer to the
land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists.

The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies.

In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain.

6. It is more accurate to use the verbs "abduct" and "kidnap" than the verbs "detain" and "arrest," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people.
